DIY Placemat Pillow in 5 Minutes!

Hi guys! I hope you’re all having a fabulous day.  I cannot believe it’s almost Thanksgiving! This year we are hosting Thanksgiving in our home and I decided to spruce up the house with a few Thanksgiving touches here and there.  One of my favorite projects was making these placemat throw pillows.  It’s super simple project will only take you about 5 minutes to put together.

DIY Placemat pillow | this super easy DIY project should take about five minutes to put together! Fun and Festive without breaking the bank! | http://www.hipncreative.wordpress.com

Materials You’ll Need:

  • placemat – make sure your placemat is double layer, meaning you can pull the placemat apart so you can fill it.  I got mine at Target for $4.99 each
  • seam ripper (or scissors)
  • poly-fil
  • matching thread and needle

STEP ONE: Using your seam ripper or scissors (I used an exact-o knife) cut a three inch slit against the bottom seam of the placemat.

STEP TWO: Stuff your placemat with the poly-fil as full as you like it, making sure you get the corners so it doesn’t feel thin or flat (unless you like it that way).

STEP THREE:  Sew your placemat back up. And boom! you’re done!  If you don’t want to sew you can also use permanent adhesive tape found at most craft stores.

This project was very easy to make and gives your home such a fun seasonal touch without being too overdone.  If you decide to give this a try totally share your experience with me on instagram using the hashtag #hnccreative.  I would love to see your work!

Speaking of Instagram, come follow me on social media – I love sharing sneak peaks of my projects on Instagram as well as sharing tons of inspiration from other bloggers on Facebook and Pinterest! And if you get a chance hop on over to my YouTube channel and see my very first video tutorial!
