DIY Studded Pumpkin Fall Decor

I love fall!  I love wearing cozy sweaters, cute boots and decorating my home for the cooler season.  I don’t know what it is about this season that just brings a dorky smile to my face!  (To be honest I love all seasons for different reasons -yes that rhymed lol) <– see dork!

Anywho I’ve been on a search to find items to decorate my home with for the fall season.  I wanted items that I would love for a long time, are super easy to make and won’t cost an arm and a leg.  I came across these orange pumpkins from the Dollar Tree and decided to buy them and see what I come up with at home. You may remember these pumpkins from a Dollar Tree Haul I did a few weeks ago.

Inspiration struck me while I was out one day and noticed a huge pumpkin with studs all over it.  I decided to give it a try and this is what I ended up with:

Not too shabby, eh?  I think they look so cute and go perfectly with my living room decor.  Below I just have them sitting on a candle stick from the Dollar Tree that I had from a few years ago.

To make your own you will need the following supplies:

  • foam pumpkins (from the dollar tree or craft store)
  • glitter
  • mod podge or school glue
  • craft paint (in color you prefer)
  • thumb tacks (i got mine from the dollar tree)
  • paint brush
  • foam brush

Instructions:

Using your foam brush paint your pumpkins and allow to dry.  You may need a few coats of paint to really whiten your pumpkin.  I did three coats, allowing for drying time in between.  It took me a total of 30 minutes for the paint to completely dry.

Next grab your mod podge (or glue) and dab a little of the glue to the stem of the pumpkin and add your glitter.  If your using mod podge, you may need to work quickly before it dries and in a ventilated area.  The smell is very strong and may get you sick.

And there you have it folks.  A nice inexpensive fall room decor.  This is a super simple craft project you can do while you’re watching TV or maybe get your kids involved!  I think they’d love it!

Until soon my friends!
