Facebook Family Reunion
I have to say that when I first opened my account on Facebook I was a bit apprehensive as to whether or not I would delete my account or hold on for a bit longer. I actually convinced Tan to open an account first and see what all the fuss was about. His first day on FB had him hooked! Well, no not really but it was nice to see so many people request him online. It was fun seeing his face light up when someone new would pop up on his friends list.
After about a week or so I decided to take the plunge and join the Facebook world. Well it’s been a year now and I have to say that I LOVE Facebook! Not for the gossip (i don’t like gossiping -it gives people the right to gossip about me and I do not like that), or for the games, I let the kiddos play them. I love Facebook because it helped me reconnect with family I haven’t seen in almost 20 years! I found friends I lost over the course of life and through Facebook have found them. I even found my best friend whom I haven’t seen in 10 years, I was beyond happy! I don’t know what happened in our lives that one day we were inseparable and the next she was gone. Work, family, life? I don’t know. But I am glad that I was able to find her and over this passed year our friendship grew to what it was 10 years ago. Now it’s even better because she has become a part of my family.
As for the family I haven’t seen in 20 years. They were people that impacted my life greatly. They are my father’s side of the family. Cousins, Aunts, Uncles and more. I was even able to see old pics of me with my siblings and it brought me straight back in time to when I was 9 or 10 years old posing for those pictures. I remember the house as clear as yesterday (we moved a lot) and it helped me remember my family as when we were kids. How we all loved each other deeply and it showed through our big smiles! How united we were! We shared our friends as well as were each other’s best friends. As I sit here typing on my PC and my heart is happy for I have found a link to my family’s past and will keep that connection for as long as possible.
So Thank You Facebook, for reconnecting me to my family and friends.~
